5 minute friday: Writer

1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

Writer

Start

It has always been a secret wish of mine to be a writer.  Out loud to anyone who asked I wanted to be a nurse and later a midwife, and that was true.  It was also true that a quiet secret part of me wanted to be a writer like some of my favorite characters Anne, Laura and even John-Boy.  So I wrote short stories, and extra reports for school and have kept a journal forever.
Then in college a couple of teachers told me I was a terrible writer and so I stopped; except for my journals because those were prayers to the God who made me and already knew my heart.  Then many years later I became a mother and that helped me be brave and start this blog and let my writing be read again because I just might have a story to tell.

Please head over to Lisa Jo's and enjoy more 5 minute Friday

  1. I bet you have many stories to tell and share with all of us. Please do.

  2. If it is there in your heart - then do it! And it does take courage. Be blessed.

  3. Definitely you have a story to tell - the one the Lord puts on your heart. Do not listen to the words of "man" - that teacher. I had one teacher give me an A and another a C. ?? I am the same person. When you write - write for an audience of One - that will make all the difference.
Praying that you will continue to write the words He tells you. Speak life into people. And increase your own faith as you write.
    Many blessings to you,
    Janis

  6. Oh and I forgot to comment on this post: I love theis idea!

And all I can say to you is do it--write! Don't let anyone tell you that you can't. I just read The Book Thief and thought it was some of the best writing I'd ever had the privilege to read; but two bloggers I love and respect didn't like the author's style at all. So you can't go by one--or even a few--critical opinions. That's the tough thing about publishing anything: once it's out there, it's open to criticism and harsh judgment. But don't let that stop you! If you have this yearning to write, and you've had it as long as you can remember, then I believe you can consider yourself a writer!

Good luck with this link-up. It sounds wonderful.

  7. Your story is the most important one to tell.
The enemy doesn't appear to us in the red suit with a pitchfork and horns... it's the good friend who's voice becomes different and discouraging, it's the mother in law who's always been supportive and all of a sudden thwarting God's will, it's the respected teacher possessed leading you down another path.. it's sometimes our pastors... all of that to say... your writing is a gift, it is a healing mechanism, it is anointed. Keep writing.
Or I can just say... haters gonna hate.
